Wall Games

Wall games are playable boards that mount on the wall and stay there, so the game is always set up and the board does the work of wall art in between. The range covers chess, four in a row, Chinese checkers, sudoku and noughts and crosses.

Boards run from 100cm up to 128 x 158cm, in metal or wood. Mounting instructions are included and wall fixings are not, since the right fixing depends on the wall. Made to order, with a 2 year manufacturer warranty.

Wall games

A wall game is a playable board that lives on the wall instead of in a box. It is always set up, always visible, and it does the job of wall art in the periods between games. That is the whole argument for one: a board in a cupboard gets played when somebody decides to play, and a board on the wall gets played in passing.

The practical questions are what goes on the wall, how it attaches, and what it looks like when nobody is playing. The sections below cover all three.

How they mount

Most boards in this range mount with screws and plugs, and mounting instructions are supplied. Wall fixings are not, because the correct fixing depends entirely on the wall: plasterboard, brick and timber each want something different, and supplying the wrong one is worse than supplying none. A hardware store will match the fixing to your wall if you take the weight and the wall type in. The Giant Chess Wall Game works differently: it arrives as 64 separate panels with double-sided tape already applied to the back, and is built up on the wall panel by panel with no drilling at all.

What is on offer

  • Giant Chess Wall Game. A 112 x 112cm playable board in 14 x 14cm squares, with a full set of 32 pieces included. A real game rather than a chess print.
  • Giant Four in a Row Wall Game. Metal, in black or white, at 105 x 110cm or 128 x 158cm, with a disc collector mounted below the board to catch the discs when a game ends.
  • Mega Chinese Checkers. A 100cm colourful metal star board for two to six players, and it plays flat on a table as well if you would rather not mount it.
  • Giant Sudoku. 105 x 125cm of black metal, with red tiles for the clue numbers and black tiles for the solution, plus a catalogue of puzzles at three difficulty levels.
  • Mega Tic Tac Toe. 100 x 100cm in warm brown wood, with magnetic pieces that stay on the board between rounds. The warmest of these in material terms, against a range that is otherwise metal.

Living with one

Two things are worth thinking about before you commit to a wall. The first is sight lines: a board that is genuinely played needs room to stand in front of it, which usually means it wants a wall you walk past rather than one you walk into. The second is that these are permanent in a way a picture hook is not, so it pays to mark the position and live with the marks for a day before drilling.

Pieces stay with the board on most of these. The tic tac toe pieces are magnetic and sit on the board face, the four in a row discs drop into the collector beneath it, and the sudoku tiles hold the puzzle in whatever state you left it, so a long puzzle can be picked up across several sittings without recording anything.

Lead times and warranty

Every game in this range is made to order rather than held on a shelf, so lead times vary with production. Contact the team before you order and we will give you the current timeframe for the game you want.

These games are backed by a 2 year limited manufacturer warranty covering manufacturing defects. If you need assistance, our team is only a call or email away.

Wall games FAQs

Are wall fixings included?

Mounting instructions are included and fixings are not, because plasterboard, brick and timber each need a different screw and plug. The Giant Chess Wall Game needs no fixings at all, since its panels use pre-applied double-sided tape.

Can any of them be played on a table instead?

Mega Chinese Checkers can. The wall boards are designed to be played where they are mounted.

Where do the pieces go between games?

On the board in most cases. The tic tac toe pieces are magnetic and stay on the face, four in a row discs collect in a tray below the board, and the sudoku tiles simply hold their position in the grid.

Are these made to order?

Yes. Contact the team for current production and delivery lead times before ordering.
