The Bridle Series is a brass army, and the name comes from the knights. Their manes are bridled rather than left plain or scored, which is the detail the series takes its name from.
Two things about the proportions are unusual before you get to the material. The queen stands barely below the king, so the pair reads as matched rather than as a monarch and a consort.
The bishop is the other. It is the tallest piece after the royals and it stands on the narrowest foot in the army, which gives the back rank a slim vertical middle.
