These are timber chessmen built for electronic play on a Chessnut Air. Every base is machined out with a cavity sized to take a chip from the Chessnut sensor chip set.
The Air reads the game while you play on turned hardwood instead of moulded plastic. The chips are bought separately from Chessnut and are not supplied here, which is the thing to be certain about before ordering.
The pattern is a Professional Staunton drawn to suit the Air rather than borrowed from a club set. The king stands 76mm and the army suits the surface it stands on instead of overhanging it.
The outlines are conventional Staunton throughout, and two timbers are offered on the identical shapes: ebonised boxwood or golden rosewood, both against natural boxwood.
