The Splendor Series is a brass army built on round, squat feet under slim shanks, and the gap between those two things is the whole design.
Every piece stands on the same wide, low foot, king to pawn, and above that foot the body narrows quickly. The set looks lighter than it is and stands more firmly than it looks.
The knight is where the pattern shows its character. It sits well below the bishop, with a forward posture and a sharp, angular mane, so it reads as a crouched piece.
The finish is a bright gold against metallic grey, and the complete 34 pieces come to 2,300 grams.
