The magnets are what make this a proper travel set. Each piece has a magnetic stud in its base, and an iron sheet sits inside the board, so the pieces hold where you put them.
When the game's over, the pieces go into a drawer with a soft lining and cut slots, one for each piece. Nothing rattles around loose and nothing goes missing.
The whole set measures 30cm x 30cm x 4.5cm, so it fits in a carry-on bag, a backpack or a desk drawer.
The pieces are small and simple, with a clean, easy to read Staunton shape that suits the size.
The size, magnets and drawer are the same across all four options. Only the dark timber changes.
Sheesham is a warm mid brown. Padauk is a rich reddish brown. Genuine ebony is deep black. Rosewood is a dark, rich brown with a fine grain.
