The knight is inspired by Pegasus, the winged horse from Greek mythology. Its mane is carved to look like folded wings, with fine carving around the eyes, nostrils and teeth.
Around it is a large luxury Staunton with a 118mm king and a 100mm queen, on wide 41mm bases under the bishop, knight and rook.
Every piece is triple weighted, polished and finished with thick green felt.
The knights are carved by hand, so each one has its own small differences, while the turned pieces match closely across the set.
The board is 60cm across with 60mm squares, a good fit for the 47mm king base.
It's a veneer board with black dyed poplar dark squares and sycamore light squares, in a matte finish. It's 13mm thick and weighs about 3.5kg.
At 60cm, you'll want a table close to a metre wide so there's room for captured pieces.
